Final painting entitled "Pinot Grigio and Italian Urn" 16" x 20" Acrylic on canvas.
Although prepared from red grapes, Pinot Grigio wine is white. The red color of any wine is derived from the red skin of the grape in the wine making process.
This was a very enjoyable piece to paint. Getting a white wine to register as the focus and to visually "pop" from the background was an intriguing task. The background foliage was great to paint, a varied mix of ivy, grape leaves, fall foliage and baby's breath flowers. Although the background registers as greens and reds, there is actually very little red paint applied, restricted to a small area. It's amazing what combined color can do to provide a sense of warmth. -K Rhine
